Vibrations caused by the Doha metro

Noise and vibration studies

The passage of railway cars, as in trains and metros, produces vibrations. The problem is particularly acute near stations: the passage of the trains is guaranteed, and the proximity of transport makes the space particularly desirable for homes and offices.

Among other projects of this type, Principia analysed the metro stations of Al Mansoura and Umm Ghuwailina, in Doha (Qatar), both of which have real estate developments in their immediate neighbourhood.

The object of the work was to determine whether the noise and vibration levels experienced in the various areas were acceptable, as a function of their intended use, and to propose the corresponding mitigation measures if they were not.
