Superplastic forming

Deforming to manufacture

Within a certain range temperatures and strain rates, some alloys undergo superplastic behaviour (permanent strains without rupture). This allows forming complex parts by a continuous deformation process.

The simulation of the process makes it possible to calibrate the pressures and temperatures required to maintain the superplastic behaviour, and to predict the distribution of thicknesses and other characteristics of the resulting part, minimising the duration of the forming process and optimising the performance of the equipment.
