Study of capable faulting at Hinkley Point

Ground surface rupture

For the new nuclear power plant Hinkley Point C in the UK, Principia conducted probabilistic analyses regarding the hazard of capable faulting producing a rupture of the ground surface.

The study of capable faulting followed other studies already carried out for that same site, which included the evaluation of the seismic hazard at the plant, a sensitivity study of the results, and a specific study of the seismic hazard for the structure of the cooling water intake.
