Principia studied the causes of the structural failure of a glass furnace. The investigation considered the structural behaviour of the furnace in normal operating conditions, and in hypothetical conditions to be able to answer “what if” questions. The analyses are complex because of the extreme working conditions, particularly temperature, of these furnaces.
As is frequent in forensic engineering projects, apart from conducting the calculations and drafting the explanatory reports, we participated as expert witnesses in the court proceedings.
