Simulation of the deformations of the casing

We studied one of the steps of the process of making sausages. The problem consisted in simulating the evolution of the deformations of the fibrous casing, which starts as a flat band but must finally adopt a cylindrical shape. The successive geometric configurations taken by the casing must avoid wrinkles and other instabilities of the material.

Principia simulated the feeding process of the casing, which allowed determining the geometrical parameters to be adopted to achieve the desired objectives. Simulation made it possible to dispense with the support personnel previously needed to ensure the quality of the final product.
