Dynamic behaviour of large bridges

Beyond conventional loads

Bridges must face multiple dynamic loads, including those generated by traffic, wind, earthquakes, ship impact, etc.

Principia has studied those effects in a large number of structures, such as the Oresund Link between Sweden and Denmark, the bridge connecting Rumania and Bulgaria across the Danube, the new Tagus crossing in Lisbon, the Alameda bridge in Sevilla, the fourth bridge across the Panama Canal, and many others.

And, occasionally, there are additional phenomena to consider. For example, in some bridges we have analysed aeroelastic coupling effects, in others we have studied the effects of explosions, both explosions in air and underwater explosions.
