Analysis of retention times

The storage of drinking water implies satisfying certain requirements regarding the retention time of the water in the tanks, particularly in regions with elevated ambient temperatures.

Principia carried out CFD analyses to evaluate the average and maximum retention times at four 250,000 m3 tanks for drinking water in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). As a result of the simulations conducted, mechanical mixers were introduced in the tanks to improve mixing and reduce the retention times.
